It created a desktop shortcut even though I asked it not to… Interesting Target: “C:\AmateurRadio\RadioTools\RT Systems V5\YaesuFTM7250\Yaesu\FTM7250_V5\RadioEngine_V5.exe” /m:FTM7250RadioData“ So much for the BS that 'It's a different codebase for each!'…
Get Initial Settings
- <Run the programmer>
- Communications/Get Data from Radio
- <Put radio in comm send mode: Power off, hold down MHz, power on: says “Clone”>
- OK (Receive data radio setup)/<Press GM/AMS on radio to start transfer>
- (Wait while data downloads: about 30 seconds)
- <Turn radio off>/OK (Success)
- <If you want, save the downloaded settings>
Use CHIRP-based CSV file to create new settings
Suggested file: DetroitTriCounty CHIRP CSV (H:\Personal\AmateurRadio\CHIRP-DetroitTriCountyRepeaters.csv)
Channel Data
Starting from the programmer software open to a blank file.
You cannot have the CSV open when you do the import! You can open it after the import, however.
- File/Import/<Open an CHIRP csv file>
- 1 (Rows to skip)
- Next (Step 1)/Next (Step 2: comma delimted, no text delimters)
- (Next step is to turn CSV columns into Programmer columns:)
- <Click on column 1>/Channel number
- <Click on column 2>/Name
- <Click on column 3>/Receive Frequency
- <Click on column 4>/Offset Direction
- <Click on column 5>/Offset Frequency
- <Click on column 6>/Tone Mode
- <Click on column 7>/CTCSS
- (Ignore the rest of the columns)
- Next (Step 3)/Next (Step 4: All defaults, all channels selected)
Most settings came in correctly, but will need to change some items. To change a bunch of lines to use the same value in a single column:
- (In first row:) <Change the item to be what you want it to be>/<CTRL><C> (Copy new setting)
- <Click on next row>/<Shift-click on last row>/<CTRL><V> (Paste: all set to new setting)
Do this for the following items:
- RF Squelch: Level 3
- Tx Power: Mid (25W)
- AMS: Unchecked (for FM-only)
- Operating mode: DN (for Fusion-only)
You can change other items here as you see fit. Suggestions: set Skip to “Skip” for channels you don't want to scan (such as APRS).
